LOW-SCENT FLOWERS
While part of the allure to flowers is the scent, gifting flowers such as lilies can overpower a room. Other guests with scent allergies may not appreciate the scent — or the possible reaction.
-
SEASONAL IS A GOOD IDEA
Not only are you more likely to find seasonal options readily available, but they are also more likely to match the party’s theme.
-
HAVE THEM DELIVERED BEFORE YOU ARRIVE
If you send your gift ahead, you have one less thing to carry. It’s also handy for the host. osts like to be polite and find a great spot for your gift. If it arrives before you, the host will have time to enjoy the flowers and place them in the perfect spot.
-
PET-FRIENDLYFLOWERS ARE A MUST FOR PET LOVERS
If the host has a cat who likes to chew or a dog that knocks things about, it’s best to request a pet-friendly option. Lilies and poinsettias are lovely but are also toxic to cats. Your florist should know what to recommend.
-
AVOID DRY OPTIONS
Dry flowers or grasses can shed when they are moved. Creating a mess with your gift may not be as welcoming a choice for your host if the vacuum has to be brought out seconds after you arrive.
-
CHOOSE A VASE, WHEN POSSIBLE
This just makes the placement of the gift handier for the host. And if you cannot choose a vase, delivering the flowers ahead is a great option too.
-
SIZE DOESN’T MATTER
Many people think of large cascading roses as
a lovely gifting option. But for a party, giving one single flower in a bud or a combination of a few buds is a lovely option. These little bud vases can be grouped or scattered on side tables (thus not interfering with the host’s decorating plan). Bud vases can even sneak their way onto a lovely charcuterie board — adding extra flair.
